Our Creatives

Emma Wheeler

Co-Founder

Emma Wheeler is a Swedish-American ballet dancer and choreographer. She received her formative dance training in San Francisco before joining Boston Ballet School in 2020. At Boston Ballet School, she performed in The Nutcracker with Boston Ballet, performed leading roles in Les Sylphides and Coppelia, and originated a role in Ja’Malik’s Light Migrations.

Upon graduation, Emma joined Ballet San Antonio under the direction of Sofiane Sylve, where she performed roles in The Nutcracker, Quartet, and Don Quixote. Her repertoire at BSA also included originating a role in Pauline’s Project and creating her first choreographic work for the company in Ballet San Antonio’s Encore. In 2025, she was featured in a new creation by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa for the Jacob’s Pillow Gala.

Lily Peta

Co-Founder

Lily Peta is a professional ballet dancer currently based in London. She received her ballet training at San Francisco Ballet School and Dance Training Center SF, where she performed leading roles in Val Caniparoli’s Lambarena and Jules Perrot’s Pas de Quatre.

Most recently, Lily spent two years in the Professional Division at Pacific Northwest Ballet, where she performed roles in George Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments, Square Dance, The Nutcracker, and Coppélia, Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty and Crystal Pite’s The Seasons’ Canon. In addition, she originated roles in new works by Noah Martzall, Lily Wills, Sam Portillo, and Luca Anaya, and originated a role in a new creation by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa for the Jacob’s Pillow 2024 Gala.


Óskar Freyr Guðnason

Composer

Óskar Freyr Guðnason (b. 2001 in Oviken) is a Stockholm-based singer and composer whose artistic practice is rooted in vocal traditions and is abstracted through minimalistic and microtonal formats. He holds a bachelor's degree in Swedish traditional music at The Royal College of Music in Stockholm where his main focus has been microtonality and herding music. Óskar has quickly garnered attention as a unique innovator and an exciting up-and-coming name on the Scandinavian scene.

Anna Hughlett

Natalie Glassie

Dancer

Natalie Glassie trained for thirteen years at the School of American Ballet (SAB) under the leadership of Kay Mazzo. During her time at SAB, she performed numerous children’s roles with the New York City Ballet, including Marie in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, as well as roles in Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Coppélia, and more. Upon graduating from SAB, she received the Mae L. Wien Award for Outstanding Promise.

She continued her training in the Professional Division at Pacific Northwest Ballet under the tutelage of Peter Boal, where she also performed many classical and contemporary works with the company. Natalie is currently a member of Saint Louis Ballet under the direction of Gen Horiuchi. Her repertoire there includes The Four Temperaments, Cinderella, and Divertimento No. 15. Natalie is very excited to be a part of the inaugural year of Midsommardans, and is extremely grateful to the entire team who makes this all possible.

Mia Kwong

Dancer

Born in New York City, Mia began her early dance studies at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center and American Ballet Theatre’s JKO School. Mia received her formal training at Boston Ballet School’s Professional Division at Walnut Hill and later Canada’s National Ballet School. Upon graduating from NBS in 2025, she was a recipient of the Peter Dwyer Award and the Erik Bruhn Memorial Award. 

Mia joined Boston Ballet’s Donna Egan Graduate Program in 2025, dancing alongside Boston Ballet II and main company productions. Her repertoire includes George Balanchine’s Haieff Divertimento, Serenade, and Concerto Barocco, Mikko Nissinen’s The Nutcracker, Sir Frederick Ashton’s Sleeping Beauty, Daniel Rubin’s No Smoke, Just Mirrors, Esie Mensah’s Eshi, and James Kudelka's Lay Dances.

Alexander Larsson

Dancer

Alexander Larsson was born and raised in Stockholm, where he began his training at the Royal Swedish Ballet School.

At 16, Alexander moved to London to study at the Royal Ballet Upper School, training for three years and performing works such as Jiří Kylián's Sechs Tänze and Christopher Wheeldon's Within the Golden Hour.

Following his graduation, Alexander joined the Royal Danish Ballet, where he is currently finishing his third season. During his time with the company, he has performed roles such as Carelis in Kermesse in Bruges and the Peasant Pas de Deux in Giselle.

Alexander Mockrish

Dancer

Alexander Mockrish trained at the Royal Swedish Ballet School in Stockholm before continuing his education at the American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School in New York. He joined Boston Ballet ll in 2025 and will be joining the company for the 26-27 season.

He was a finalist at the Prix de Lausanne 2023, receiving the Contemporary Dance Award. In 2025, he won the Young Creation Award for his original piece Extinction.

Kennedy Newell

Dancer

Originally from Lee's Summit, Missouri, Kennedy received her formal ballet training with Boston Ballet at Walnut Hill School for the Arts. After graduating, she joined the Graduate Program at Boston Ballet. Kennedy then completed the trainee program at Ballet West. During her schooling she performed ballets such as Coppélia, La Bayadere, Allegro Brillianté, Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker.

Kennedy will begin her second professional season with American Midwest Ballet this fall. At AMB, she has been featured in Bob Fosse's Sing Sing Sing, roles in The Nutcracker, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Fanny Westring

Dancer

Fanny Westring, 21 years old, is from Sweden. She studied at the Royal Swedish Ballet School from 2014 to 2023. Highlights from her training include dancing Donizetti by José Martinez, Serenade by George Balanchine, and Stabat Mater by Sir Robert Cohan. She completed an internship with the Royal Swedish Opera, where she took part in the TV recording of Nureyev's Swan Lake.

She has since worked in the Czech Republic, first for one season with Ballet NDM (Ostrava) and subsequently with Ballet DJKT (Plzeň). Among her most rewarding experiences as a professional dancer have been performing Heatscape by Justin Peck, Requiem by Francesco Annarumma, Tchaikovsky by Anna Vita, as well as the Pas d'action in La Bayadère and the Cygnets in Swan Lake.

Darcy Jubb

Darcy Jubb is Midsommardans’ Media and Design Director. Her background is in non-profit media and communications, where she focussed on advocacy related to sexual violence and exploitation in London.

She holds a BSc in Global Humanitarian Studies from University College London, where she conducted research on theoretical approaches to children’s identity within international law. She is a passionate advocate for youth accessibility within the arts and embraces the intersectionality between human rights and creative expression in all her work.

Sophia Wheeler

Company Manager

Sophia Wheeler is Midsommardans' Company Manager. She is Swedish-American and began her dance training at the San Francisco Ballet School before continuing her pre-professional education at the Boston Ballet School.

She is currently pursuing a BA in Neuroscience at Middlebury College, where she explores the intersections of science, data, and human behavior. She has also studied business and management at the Stockholm School of Business at Stockholm University. She is excited to be part of a project that bridges the traditions of Midsummer with classical works.


Our Artists

Arianna “Anna” Hughlett is a choreographer and dancer based in Kansas City, Missouri. She began training in her hometown at both Kansas City Ballet School and Kansas School of Classical Ballet. She then joined the Boston Ballet School and completed their Graduate Program.

Anna has performed around the country in professional productions with Boston Ballet, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet and Grand Rapids Ballet. Her repertoire includes works by Balanchine, Robbins, Jorma Elo, Val Caniparoli and more. Her choreographic work has been commissioned by The Hartt School, Boston Ballet II, Grand Rapids Ballet, Azara Ballet, and others.

This summer, she will move to New York City to join the ensemble at New Chamber Ballet. Now operating as a freelance artist in Kansas City, and together with the ensemble Flux & Pointe, she creates works of dance that welcome a diversity of audience groups and broadens the view of what ballet can be.
