Midsommardans
Bringing performance and dance to Stockholm’s archipelago.
Midsommardans brings performance, creative movement, and artistic dialogues to the sprawling Stockholm Archipelago. Drawing upon Sweden’s unique geography and ephemeral summer beauty, Midsommardans is an artistic appendage of the Swedish joy for light, warmth, and rebirth. We are invested in exploring how dance and music can conjure the tangible joy of Sweden’s long, light-filled days.
Your Questions,
Answered
Where?
In collaboration with Skärgårdstifelsen and Grinda, Midsommardans will take place on the idyllic main field of Grinda. Bring your picnic blankets and sunglasses, and take a seat in front of our outdoor stage with the natural backdrop of Grinda’s unearthly nature.
When?
Our inaugural performances took place on June 20th 2026, the day of Swedish Midsummer. The festival is a reccurring event, and will hold performances, workshops, and more for years to come during the Midsummer season.
What should you expect from Midsommardans?
A little bit of absurdity. A lot of sunlit dance.
Expect programs of old and new: excerpts of timeless classical ballet side by side with cutting edge abstract works. All performed by a renowned group of international and local dancers.
